Addressable circuit: -ve open circuit

Not yet verified

CIE-A-200: Addressable circuit: -ve open circuit

Per the manual, if the system faces a loop -ve open circuit during initialisation, initialisation does not fail at that point but continues to the end of the loop and all devices are operational (as long as no other faults exist). A message of Addressable circuit: -ve open circuit is displayed, but the panel cannot detect where the open circuit is. To locate it, stop the loop, disconnect loop end 2, wait at least 3 minutes and reinitialise: initialisation then fails at that point and Loop not complete is displayed. The loop must be reinitialised to clear the fault, always waiting at least 3 minutes between stopping a loop and reinitialising.

Device faults during initialisation

CIE-A-200: Device faults during initialisation

Per the manual, if the system detects a device fault or fire activation during initialisation, initialisation does not fail at that point. Beyond certain limits initialisation will fail and the various fault or fire activations are displayed. Deal with the events before reinitialising: first investigate and rectify fire activations (from unreset call points to contaminated multipoint detectors), then fault conditions (from Input open circuit to a multipoint detector with its optical chamber loose, indicating signal low). Devices or chambers should be removed or replaced only with the loop stopped.

Device Quantity Mismatch

Not yet verified

CIE-A-200: Device Quantity Mismatch

Per the manual, a device mismatch occurs if a device or devices have been physically removed from or added to the system and the changes have not been updated in the OSP and downloaded into the panel; the panel expects to find the original number of devices downloaded to it. Check the site information for changes and compare with the OSP file. Another cause is initialising the loop too quickly after it was stopped: if a device has not powered down completely it may be missed and cause a mismatch. Stop the loop and wait at least 5 minutes before reinitialising.

Earth Fault

Not yet verified

CIE-A-200: Earth Fault

Per the manual, if the panel detects a short circuit or leakage current to earth/screen from one of its supply rails (0 V or +Ve) an Earth Fault is displayed. The normal voltage between 0 V and Earth SCRN is 1.7 V; the panel displays an earth fault if it is below 1.5 V (leakage to 0 V) or above 2.5 V (leakage to +Ve). Remove the circuit cables one at a time and reset the system: when the faulty circuit is disconnected the earth fault clears within approximately 30 seconds of reset. A computer connected to the panel may generate an earth fault (use an optical isolator if the connection is permanent). It is not possible to override the earth fault monitoring. A short circuit (expected to be less than 5 ohms) can be tracked with a digital test meter between the positive or negative core and the screen. For a fault on the addressable loop, disconnect it and investigate with a meter; a loop +Ve to earth fault can be located by splitting the +Ve core at about the half-way point and reinitialising with only loop end 1 connected.

Loop not complete (loop +ve to -ve short circuit or +ve open circuit at initialisation)

Not yet verified

CIE-A-200: Loop not complete (loop +ve to -ve short circuit or +ve open circuit at initialisation)

Per the manual, if the system faces a loop +ve to -ve short circuit or a loop +ve open circuit during initialisation, initialisation fails at that point and a message of Loop not complete is displayed. Devices up to that point are operational, but devices beyond are not active. The active faults list in access levels 2 and 3 shows messages that need to be viewed together as a set. The panel cannot determine the location of a short circuit, so a short circuit message is followed by the location of the open circuit created when the isolator in that device responds to the short. Check whether approximately 40 V DC loop voltage reaches the next device (X+1): if it does, the problem is the connections or a faulty electronics module at that device; if not, stop the loop and investigate device X. The loop must be reinitialised to clear the short circuit fault.
