Per the manual, if the system faces a loop -ve open circuit during initialisation, initialisation continues to the end of the loop and all devices are operational (as long as no other faults exist). A message of Addressable circuit: -ve open circuit is displayed, but the panel cannot detect where it is. To locate it, stop the loop, disconnect loop end 2, wait at least 3 minutes and reinitialise: initialisation then fails at that point and Loop not complete is displayed. The loop must be reinitialised to clear the fault.
Per the manual, after initialising the loop, if the number of devices initialised does not match the number programmed, a DEVICE QUANTITY MISMATCH screen appears showing the number found and programmed. A mismatch occurs if devices have been removed or added and the changes have not been updated in the OSP and downloaded into the panel, or if the loop was initialised too quickly after it was stopped (stop the loop and wait at least 5 minutes before reinitialising). On a new panel a mismatch is likely, because it will have been tested in the factory with various configurations.
Per the manual, if no obvious causes are apparent, replace the device. It also notes that a short circuit between cores with a value between 3 k and 300 ohms can corrupt data on the loop even though no short circuit fault is reported.
Per the manual, if the panel detects a short circuit to earth/screen from one of its supply rails (0 V or +ve) an Earth Fault is displayed. Remove the circuit cables one at a time and reset the system: when the faulty circuit is disconnected the fault clears within approximately 30 seconds of reset. A computer connected to the panel may generate an earth fault (use an optical isolator if the connection is permanent). It is not possible to override the earth fault monitoring. A short circuit (expected to be less than 5 ohms) can be tracked with a meter between the positive or negative core and the screen.

Per the manual, if random or recurrent loop open circuit faults are reported, check the entire system for: loose connections; broken connectors (over-tightening can break the connector body and cause an intermittent open circuit); broken or missing copper connecting strips (original-style Multipoint only, not ASD); broken cables that are snapped off before they enter the connector; and trapped insulation. It warns that a cumulative effect of several high-resistance connections can cause random reporting of the location of the problem.

Per the manual, if short circuit or open circuit faults occur on the loop wiring the panel detects them and indicates them with the yellow loop fault LED and logs them in the event logs. Adjacent devices open their isolators to isolate the faulty section, and the panel uses both ends of the loop so no devices are lost, so the faults may appear to clear: check the fault LEDs and event logs. When cable faults occur the loop must be stopped manually and the faults rectified before reinitialising. The device isolators are latched: the loop must be stopped and reinitialised to close them, otherwise a second cable fault will lose devices. Always wait at least 3 minutes between stopping a loop and reinitialising.

Per the manual: make sure the correct device is being investigated by comparing its description with the device address and/or serial number; make sure the optical chamber is clean, and if not replace it with a new one and allow it to recalibrate; if the problem persists consider changing the electronics module. The Sita ASD detector has the electronics module and chamber integrated in one housing, which should be replaced as a complete assembly if either needs changing.
