Common Ziton Faults

The most frequently encountered fault types on Ziton ZP3 systems. Always verify against current manufacturer documentation.

Loop open circuit

Break in ZP3 addressable loop wiring. Use panel diagnostics to identify the last address before the open circuit.

Loop short circuit

Short on ZP3 loop — isolators activate to contain the fault segment. Identify and repair the insulation failure.

Device no response

Address not responding on ZP3 loop. Check device seating, address programming and loop wiring integrity.

Detector contamination

ZP3 optical detector contamination reading elevated. Inspect, clean or replace detector.

PSU / mains fault

Mains input to ZP3 panel not detected or PSU fault. Check supply fuse, MCB and PSU output.

Battery fault

Standby battery below required capacity. Load test and replace batteries to maintain BS 5839-1 standby time.

Sounder / notification fault

Sounder circuit fault on ZP3 output. Check circuit wiring, sounders and end-of-line resistor.

Zone input fault

Input zone fault detected. Check zone wiring, EOL resistor value and device connections.

Card / module fault

Expansion card or module not responding. Check card seating and connections.

Network communication fault

ZP3 network fault between networked panels. Check network wiring and panel addressing.
