Common C-TEC Faults

The most frequently encountered fault types on C-TEC XFP systems. Always verify against current manufacturer documentation.

Loop open circuit

Break detected on addressable loop. Identify last communicating device and check wiring from that point forward.

Loop short circuit

Short between loop conductors. Isolator activates to contain fault — trace and repair insulation damage.

Device missing from loop

Device at programmed address not responding. Check device installation, address and base connections.

Sounder circuit fault

Open or short circuit on sounder output. Check sounder wiring and end-of-line resistor.

Battery fault

Standby battery below required voltage or capacity. Load test and replace if necessary.

Mains supply fault

Mains input to panel not detected. Check supply fuse, MCB and incoming supply.

PSU overcurrent

Excessive current draw detected. Check for short circuits on output circuits and device loads.

Input fault (monitored input)

Monitored input wiring fault. Check input wiring and end-of-line device.

Relay / output fault

Output relay not operating correctly. Check relay wiring and target device.

Detector analogue value out of range

Detector reading above or below expected range. Check for contamination, environmental conditions or device failure.
